Tigers, Pirates seeking redemption in Bidvest Cup final

With both clubs having failed to win the coveted MTC Premiership title this season, tomorrow’s Bidvest Cup final presents itself as the perfect opportunity for rivals Tigers and Orlando Pirates to redeem themselves.

Tigers take on old foes Orlando Pirates in the much-anticipated Bidvest Cup final at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 14h30.

Going into tomorrow’s game, the two clubs will be equally determined and hungry for silverware but closely reading into Tigers’ prospects of clinching the final edition of the FA Cup, coach Bobby Samaria and his charges stand a good chance of lifting the trophy should they continue with the kind of form they displayed this season.

On paper, Samaria’s tactical ability and his brigades’ overall high work rate should come in handy in their pursuit of collecting the three points at stake – but Tigers must however not take proceedings frivolously, as Pirates have in recent times proven their mettle at that level, and given their burning desire a surprise or two can be expected as well.

Pirates will also be out to avenge their ailing league title campaign on nemesis Tigers and coach Lucky Kakuva knows very well that a victory would go a long way in consoling their often vociferous and hard-to-please fans.

Also up for grabs on the day will be the Top Goal Scorer and Player of the Tournament awards, each worth N$25 000, while the runner-up in the final will walk away with N$220 000 and African Stars and Eleven Arrows, semifinal losers, will each receive N$115 000.

The All Access Pass competition draw will also be done at halftime on the day with the grand prize winner to be flown to Sunderland to watch the Bidvest-sponsored club in English premiership action next season.

Tickets for Saturday’s final are available at Computicket at Shoprite and Checkers countrywide and at Football House for N$30 each.
