Windhoek Hundreds of Namibian gospel music fans braved Sunday night’s cold weather to attend a musical extravaganza by South African gospel queen and sensational songstress Rebecca Malope. Malope, whose hit songs include “Ukuzenza,” “Ngegazi Lemvana,” “Somlandela,” “Angingedwa,” “Uyingcwele,” Iyahamba Lenquola,” “Umoya wam” and many other hits left her Namibian fans craving for more at the Independence Stadium. The stadium was filled with joyous screams and ululation when Malope, wearing the Oshiwambo traditional attire, ran to the stage waving to the crowd. During the show she performed some of her new and old songs including one of her classic hits such as “Look at me Lord.” Photographers, fans and everyone who went to witness the remarkable event couldn’t hold their excitement – ecstatically screaming “we want more … we want more … we want more.” The concert was hosted by MTC on Sunday as part of Namibia’s silver jubilee independence anniversary . Other artists who performed were South African gospel songstress Sibongile Sibeko, local artists Vuyo, D-Naff, Clive & The New Generation and the Koi International Worship Choir. Malope, a singer who rose to international stardom in the late ’90s arrived at the stadium early and received a rapturous and warm welcome.
