Windhoek The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Galz & Goals programme hosted Mommies’ Day last weekend attracting a total of 25 mommies competing in football, life skills activities and fun competitions. The purpose of Mommies’ Day is to educate parents and supporters of the young girls participating in the NFA Galz & Goals League about the programme. It allows the mommies to participate in football and life skills activities through the League and provide information about Galz & Goals, from football to the healthy lifestyle aspects of the programme. The mommies also participated in Kicking AIDS Out activities facilitated by SCORE Namibia, from which they were taught how their girls are developing life skills and learning to make healthy lifestyle choices through participating in the Galz & Goals activities. Galz & Goals players, daddies and supporters cheered on while the mommies showed off their football skills. “The Mommies Day innovation is fitting perfectly within what the NFA aims to achieve with the development of women football in the country. It gives the women of Namibia an opportunity to experience the joy that our game provides and to build new and lasting friendships. It also gives them an opportunity to experience first-hand some of the activities that their daughters participate in. They also have the opportunity to connect to the people who work with their daughters on a daily basis,” said Barry Rukoro, the NFA Secretary General after the event.
