The High Court this morning granted an interim interdict setting aside the suspension of the Namibia National Student’s Organisation (NANSO) as an affiliate of the National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC). High Court Judge Shafimana Ueitele ordered that the NYC, the Chairperson of NYC Mandela Kapere and the Directorate of the National Youth Council of Namibia “must not, in any way, proceed with the implementation of the decision [to suspend Nanso],” and that they “must allow [Nanso] to fully and meaningfully participate in the activities of the [NYC] council.” The interim interdict is valid until the case is finalised. Nanso and the NYC are set to present their arguments regarding the suspension to the High Court next Wednesday.
