Woman stabs boyfriend to death

Windhoek A woman fatally stabbed her boyfriend in Tsumeb on Saturday, following an argument. It is alleged that the victim, Hosea Hacob Khubeb, 32,  and the 54-year-old female suspect, who cannot be named until she appears in court, had a quarrel. The woman then took a knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest. He died on the spot. She is expected to appear in court today. Inspector Slogan Matheus of the Namibian Police Public Relations Division informed the media at the weekly crime briefing that the incident happened in Soweto location of Tsumeb. The next of kin of the victim have been informed and police investigations continue. On Friday at 17:00 at the Ongwediva open market, a 54-year-old man, who holds the rank of major in the Namibian Defence Force, was arrested for pointing a firearm and discharging the weapon in a municipal area. The suspect went to the Ongwediva open market to buy meat, for which he paid with a N$200 note. An argument ensued between the suspect and the meat vendor about the change, which resulted in the suspect pointing his pistol at the meat seller and firing shots in the air. The man is expected to appear in court today. A man was allegedly shot outside Tavern Bar in Katutura on Saturday. The victim and other patrons were hanging around outside the bar after it closed, when suddenly a man with a pistol started shooting randomly into the crowd. The victim was hit in one of his legs. The injured man was treated in the Katutura Intermediate Hospital and discharged the same day. Nobody was arrested and police investigations continue. Rodwel Masumu, 60, died last week after he was beaten all over his body with a big piece of burning firewood. A demand for a place to sleep near the victim seemed to be the cause of an argument and the beating. His next of kin have been informed.
