Tough job …

Fire fighters struggled to contain a fire in several containers on board a shipping vessel that made an emergency stopover at the Port of Lüderitz en route from the Port of Walvis Bay to Cape Town, South Africa, after crew members observed smoke coming from one of the containers loaded with charcoal. Namport’s manager for communications, Tanya Pesat, said the crew, together with Namport workers, “managed to contain the fire on board the vessel before she was brought alongside, the fire extinguished and damaged containers offloaded.” With the exception of six containers that were damaged by the fire, no injuries or damage to property occurred, Pesat said.
