Windhoek Sheehama Gustaf, popularly known as Dj Gee, is one of the youngest radio presenters, a Dj always with a heart for fellow youths. The radio presenter of the Hola Time Show, a youth programme on Omulunga radio station that airs on Monday to Friday from six to ten O’clock in the evening, says, the show is basically focusing on issues that are currently affecting the Namibian youth such as Gender Based Violence (GBV) and drugs and alcohol abuse. The show also helps the youth to relax and forget about their problems through listening to their favourite songs by requesting them. According to Dj Gee, being the presenter of the show helps him to get closer to other youth wholeheartedly. “During this show, I mostly target youth that are suffering in life, by motivating them and encouraging them not to give up on their lives.” Born on March 2, 1990, Dj Gee grew up in the village of Okando, in the Omusati region with his grandparents. Typical to all children of the time, especially obedient ones, domestic works was part of her daily routine. At a time, Dj Gee enrolled for his primary education at the Okando Primary School and moved to Emvula Junior Secondary School. For Grade 11 to 12, he moved to Onesi Senior Secondary School where he matriculated. Due to his poor performances in Grade 12, he registered with Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) to improve his marks. He says at a time of improving his marks, there was no one to pay for his studies and later his brave grandmother help him to pay for the English subject. “Later I decided to register for two subjects and got help from one bar lady with the money for registration. It was really hard for me to attend classes because the school was far and I have to spend more than N$ 20 for transport every day,” he says. He then moved to Windhoek in 2009 to pursue his studies in media. “My study life was hard since I use to foot from Katutura to town at school every day, although this did not bother me since it was just like a motivation for me to study very hard,” says DJ Gee. As they say the rest is history and today Dj Gee is living his dreams as a radio personality saying he is very happy to be in the media circles, especially helping fellow youths.
