Rundu A 45-year-old man who allegedly murdered his wife and seven-year-old son will remain in custody, a Rundu magistrate ruled on Monday. The twin murder took place on Friday at Ndiyona in Kavango East. The accused Mutero Vendislaus Mbangu allegedly shot to death his wife and seven-year-old son after a heated argument between the couple. He handed himself to law enforcement officers after he committed the double murder. Mutero was denied bail due to the seriousness of the offence and because police investigations are still underway, while the court also fears for his safety. But the court advised Mutero to lodge a formal bail application if he wished to be released on bail. Mbangu faces two counts of murder. The court advised him to get a lawyer but he said he would conduct his own defence. Mutero appeared before relief magistrate I.T. Velikoshi and Gotlieb Nghinongelwa prosecuted. The case was remanded to November 24.
