Windhoek Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti has called up 26 local-based players in preparations for the Four Nations Tournament in Angola next weekend, as he looks to expand the net and assess more players for the national team. Mannetti says the training squad includes lot of new faces and some Brave Warriors regular players such as Lloyd Kazapua, Joslin Kamatuka, Benyamin Nenkavu and Absalom Iimbondi, who all had a chance to compete at the highest level. “Local-based players have the challenge of breaking through into the national team and this tournament will give me a chance to look at a lot of players. It is a platform to increase the pool of players and to also further assess the readiness and quality of some players as far as the team is concerned” Mannetti explains. The coach also believes the Four Nations Tournament, which will involve host Angola, Zambia and DR Congo, comes at the right time. “I thank the NFA for this chance for us to go and play there. It gives us more action and this can only improve the team going forward and competing in further CHAN qualifiers. The competition too will be good for those players who will form part of the Brave Warriors team to play Guinea in the World Cup Qualifiers, so this is perfect timing for us”, adds Mannetti. The Four Nations Tournament plays on November 7-8, in Angola and after that Mannetti and his charges turns attention to the November 12, (Thursday at 16h00) tie against Guinea Conakry for the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
