Magicians cry foul over Ita

Windhoek Officials of MTC Premiership outfit Tura Magic Football Club are up in arms over reports that the club’s leading striker, Itamunua Keimuine, is pushing the club’s hand for an exit. The young striker is reportedly training currently with Katutura giants Black Africa, while still contracted to the Magicians on a three-year deal. A club official, who requested that his identity to be withheld for fear of reprisals, revealed to New Era Sport that BA coach Woody Jacobs, recently enquired about the possibility of luring the unsettled striker to the Gemengde outfit during the January Transfer Window. “We have received such a request, although it was not official, but there are procedures in place that must be followed first, which were not met… only for us to learn the boy has started training with Black Africa,” the club official charged. “The boy is still contracted to Tura Magic and for him to engage in training sessions with a rival club constitutes a serious breach of the club’s code of conduct.” The irritated club official accused BA of conducting their business in an unprofessional manner by allowing the want-away striker to train with them while still under a legal contract with another employer. “This is unacceptable and clearly boils down to a total lack of respect for each other. Clubs must adhere to standard procedures and should try by all means to conduct their business in a more transparent and respectable fashion. Poaching of players is prohibited across all forms of the game, but our domestic league authorities appear to be turning a blind eye to this sickening practice. It’s incumbent upon the country’s flagship league [Namibia Premier League] to take drastic action against such unscrupulous acts by calling the culprits to order, but knowing the league, nothing will happen”. Repeated efforts to contact Black Africa coach Woody Jacobs proved futile yesterday as his phone went unanswered.
