Windhoek With the primary objective this weekend being the collection of maximum points and hopefully closing the gap atop the MTC premiership log table, Black Africa mentor Woody Jacobs’ charges have received a huge boost to complement their ambition with the timely return of midfielder Awillo Stephanus. The BA and Brave Warriors stylish midfielder-cum-winger recently returned home following the completion of his six-month loan spell at Thai first division club Krabi FC. Awillo, who is expected to feature this weekend, joined the Thai club last August and quickly settled down well featuring in about 15 matches and scoring more than three goals for the club. Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday, coach Jacobs hailed Awillo’s return saying his experience and leadership qualities will be very imperative in carrying the team through the remainder of the season, while also bringing a fresh impetus to their league title race. “Obviously the team has come this far because of the input of all the players and they did it without Awillo, but now that we have someone of his calibre I say this is the kind of boost we need. He is a fantastic player and has the ability to carry a team,” said Jacobs. “As for the weekend matches, we have been preparing hard for the fixtures because this is our opportunity to close the gap between us and log leaders Tigers, but we can only do that by making sure we collect all six points at stake against Young Chiefs and Rundu Chiefs. The boys are ready and I strongly believe they will do a great job.” BA currently occupy 2nd place on the log with 37 points, while Tigers top the league with 45 points. Orlando Pirates are 3rd with 33 points followed by reigning champions African Stars in 4th place with 29 points. Coach Jacobs also confirmed the absence of striker Muna Katupose, Marvin Katire and Leroy Adams, who are all still nursing injuries. But the club however welcomes hard-tackling defender Mervin Araseb who returns from injury.
