Windhoek According to the Norwegian daily newspaper Ringerikes Blad, Namibian footballer Miguel Hamutenya recently touched down in the Swedish city of Gävle where he is undergoing trials at Swedish premiership club Gefle IF. Hamutenya’s move follows days after his contract with Norwegian club Hønefoss was last week cut short following the club’s relegation to that country’s second division. The 23-year-old versatile right back’s contract with Hønefoss was initially to run until the end of the season. Ringerikes Blad late last week reported that Hamutenya, who arrived in Sweden as a free agent, commenced trials with Gefle IF and is said to have impressed the club’s technical staff so far. The club is reportedly studying the Namibian defender to determine whether he will be the suitable candidate to replace Simen Rafn, who was ruled out for the entire season with a severe knee injury. Previously, Hamutenya also played for Bnei Sakhnin in the Israeli Premier League as well as for Bolton Wanderers in the English Championship. Hamutenya received his football education at Bolton Wanderers International Academy via their EduKick program, for two years. He also played in Malta where his younger brother Ennio currently plays for Naxxar Lions in that country’s elite league. - Additional info: Ringerikes Blad
