Windhoek Namdeb continues to support maths and science education initiatives at schools at local, regional and national level in various ways, as can be attested by its recent sponsorship of learners and teachers at the Oranjemund Private School. Mathematics and science are core subject requirements for tertiary education fields, which support skills required for mining, says senior communications practitioner at the diamond mining giant Anne-Nora Lameck. Oranjemund Private School (OPS) learners and teachers recently received corporate items to grow and sustain interest in science as an academic subject. The meagre investment went towards the OPS Internal Science Fair, which was held on June 17, wherein learners from Grades 1 to 7 participated. Marni van Rensburg was the guest of honour, whilst Ndinelao Kalomo and Celine Nakuumba were the chief judges and event coordinators. The Internal Science Fair helped prepare OPS learners for the Regional Science Fair, which took place in Keetmanshoop from July 6 to 8.
