Khomas NAMPOL and Dates Eleven were over the weekend promoted to the Southern Stream First Division, while Ntunguru, KK United, Tropical Heat and Ongwediva City also joined the national first division following play-offs held in Mariental, Tsumeb and in Grootfontein.
Karas Region’s Dates Eleven booked their hard earned spot in the second tier of domestic football when they started off with a 1-0 win over Hardap NAMPOL, followed by a convincing 6-3 victory over Eastern Chiefs before losing 1-0 to Khomas NAMPOL to finish second in the play-offs behind champions Khomas NAMPOL.
The police team from the capital beat Chiefs 1-0 and were also too good for their Hardap counterparts, thrashing them 4-1.
At the Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb, the North-West Stream First Division play-offs saw Otjozondjupa Region’s Tropical Heat beat Blue Birds 2-0 and Oshana Region’s Ongwediva City playing to a goalless draw against Pubs in their final mini-league games, a scenario that saw Heat and City join the first division for the 2015/2016 football season.
In the North-East First Stream First Division play-offs, Ntunguru and KK United from Kavango West and Kavango East, respectively, got the better of their opponents in the play-offs held at the Omulunga stadium in Grootfontein at the weekend.
