Seaflower Whitefish embarks on N$57 million re-engineering drive

Lüderitz – Seaflower Whitefish Factory on Friday launched it re-engineering project at Lüderitz, valued at N$57 million. The project is part of the commitment by National Fishing Corporation of Namibia (Fishcor),  Seaflower Whitefish Factory’s state-owned parent company, to its strategic plan ending in 2021. 


Local officials elected to Refela leadership

LÜDERITZ - The Refela chapter recently established in //Kharas Region elected Lüderitz mayor Hilaria Mukapuli as its regional commissioner, while Keetmanshoop  councillor Hilia Titus was elected vice-commissioner and   Aroab village councillor Annelien Vilander got the nod as its treasurer.

All systems go for 12th Luderitz Crayfish Festival

LÜDERITZ - Lüderitz Mayor and Chairperson of Crayfish Festival Board of Trustees, Hilaria Mukapuli, told New Era that the 12th Lüderitz Crayfish Festival will take place from the 25 April, 2019 until 30 May, 2019, at the Lüderitz Waterfront Harbour Square. The theme for this year’s festival is “Our Ocean Our Heritage”.

Luderitz without water since Monday

LÜDERITZ - Lüderitz residents have been without water since Monday evening due to the fact the town has been experiencing power outages on the main line powering NamWater boreholes and boosters which led to the water level in the Lüderitz Reservoir reduced to a paltry 21 percent.

Bird flu in penguins brought under control

LÜDERITZ - The swab samples collected last week on penguins at Halifax Island in Lüderitz and tested by the Central Veterinary Laboratory tested positive of Avian Influenza H5N8 though the situation is under control, says the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
