It is ironic how there are more communication channels today, yet we seem to be so disconnected and at odds about the issues we should be addressing. Change is inevitable and at some point; it has to happen. Everyone wants to be a leader or be the person in charge. A nice important title can be a major motivator for people to take up leadership positions and all the recognition and perks that come with it. Age has a sneaky way of creeping up on you. I wouldn’t blame you if you lost your faith in humanity. After all, there have been and are still plenty of people who simply can’t do right. Some of the things that people do are just hard to understand and at times comprehend. It doesn’t matter their gender, age, creed, or even position, people simply fail to do what is right. Be practical and realisticI find it interesting that most proverbs, especially African proverbs, are quite practical in their nature. Every time an event or something comes to an end, a new cycle and struggle begin and a new fight to make it to the end starts again. The same applies when it comes to gratitude – it too runs its course and will have to be restarted again. However, the best part of any ride is not the end or beginning, but the ride itself. As kids, we used to play ‘houses house’, mostly imitating what we considered, at the time, what life would be like once we are married or living as adults. Fast forward, a decade and a half and now not everyone wears a smile when they hear the word marriage or even relationship. Someone asked me who exactly can be considered as a youth and what it even means. I told them in my limited understanding that youth is the time of life, when one is young.
