Acting Bondelswart chief Josef Christiaan has died after a vehicle hit him in Karasburg last Friday.
It is alleged that Christiaan was hit by an oncoming vehicle at about 14h00 and sustained a broken right leg and a fractured rib.

He was rushed to the Karasburg State Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and passed on at around 19h00 the same day.

The incident occurred at the entrance of the town in front of Tallians Bottle Store along the main road.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened and the next of kin have been informed.

In another incident at the town, a 37-year-old male Namibian has been arrested for attempted murder for allegedly opening fire on a group of men near Club Loving Inn at Westerkim location.

It is alleged that on Saturday at about 03h00, the suspect opened fire as he walked past a group of men who were standing near the club, hitting one of them from behind in the right shoulder.

One live bullet was found at the scene of the incident, with three spent cartridges of a 9mm calibre pistol.
The victim, 20-year-old Avrill Basson, was rushed to the Karasburg State Hospital after the shooting and transferred to Windhoek’s Katutura State Hospital.
Police investigations into the two incidents continue.
