WINDHOEK – The driver of a VW Golf, who lost control of his vehicle and crashed it into a riverbed in front of Ramatex factory on the Otjomuise Road, left his severely injured passenger in the wrecked car and fled the scene on Saturday.

According to the weekly crime report, the passenger who was identified as Natalia Danster, 22, broke both her arms in the accident.

The driver, believed to be the boyfriend of Danster, called the police on Sunday to arrange to hand himself over.

Police investigations into the matter continue.

A 28-year-old man allegedly hanged himself with a cord in his bedroom.

Family members of Anthony Hummel, 28, allegedly found him hanging on Saturday at about 05h00 in his bedroom at Block B in Rehoboth.

No suicide note was left and investigations continue.

The partly decomposed body of a male was found behind Block B in Rehoboth at Dam Camp on Friday at about 20h20.

The body is still unidentified and will be transported to the Windhoek police mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death and identification.

Three people were admitted to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned.

Helen Steer, 62, and two minors sustained serious injuries when the driver of a while Hyundai, Olga Rossler, lost control of the vehicle while overtaking another vehicle.

Police investigations continue.

A case of reckless and or negligent driving was opened after a white Ford Bantam bakkie overturned on the main road between Kutenhoas and Bethanie on Saturday November 15.

According to witnesses at the scene, the left rear tyre was damaged by a sharp stone in a curve before the vehicle approached a drift.

Both the driver, 29-year-old Hendrik Isack and his passenger Stefanus Kooper sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.

Police investigations continue.

A man died after his vehicle landed on top of him when he was thrown from the vehicle after he lost control of the car and it overturned.

It is alleged Teddy Hafeni Nangolo, 32, rammed the car he was trying to overtake on the main road between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

He was then thrown from his Golf which rolled a few times before landing on him and killing him instantly.

Police investigations continue.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated after a white Nissan Sentra overloaded with seven occupants collided with a silver Toyota pick-up.

It is alleged that at about 20h40 on Saturday November 15 on the Ondangwa/Oshivelo main road the driver of the Sentra and one of his passengers sustained serious injuries and was transported to Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased were identified as Nampala Andreas and Namilonga Festus (ages unknown).

The other occupants of the sedan and the occupants of the pick-up escaped with minor injuries.

Police investigations continue.

A case of murder was reported to the police at Ondangwa after a cattle herder was killed with his shotgun.

It is alleged that 28-year-old Johannes Sheya Joseph went to Okalingisa cuca shop at Okalunga Ka Daniel village with the shotgun which his employer gave to him to guard livestock at the cattle post.

The suspect, who may not be named until he appears in court, then asked if he could keep the weapon.

The deceased allegedly at first refused, but later consented and just moments after he gave the shotgun he heard shots coming from behind the cuca shop.

When he went to investigate why the suspect was shooting, the suspect who is a former employee at the same cattle post turned the gun on him and shot him in the left hip.

The deceased was transported to hospital in a private ambulance, but died on arrival at the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital.

A man believed to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol died when a tractor pulling a trailer full of cement overturned and landed on him.

Michael Shikongo, 40, was driving a tractor pulling the trailer when he lost control of the tractor and he died on the scene.

Six packs of dagga were found in his trouser pocket and his two passengers who escaped unhurt told the police the deceased was also drinking.
The incident happened at about 17h20 on November 15 at Othingo village in the Oshakati district.

An inquest docket was opened at the Ondangwa police station after a one-week old baby died whilst asleep with its mother and father at Onguta location in Ondangwa at about 03h20 on November 16.

It is alleged the mother woke up in the early morning hours to breastfeed the baby when she realised that the baby had died.

The baby boy was identified as Salomo Lazarus (born on November 09) and is alleged to have been born premature.
