Namibian model, Gabriel Moonde, has been selected to represent the country at this year’s Mister Africa International schedule for December 4 in Gaborone in Botswana.

Gabriel will join 20 contestants from different African countries to vie for the title at the prestigious Grand Palm GICC. “I’m definitely hoping to bring the title home, besides that I am hoping to build strong networks that would boost my modeling career,” says Gabriel adding that if he wins, he would definitely take advantage of the platform to travel around Africa and inspire young minds in entrepreneurship and education. “I would also make use of the title to encourage other Namibians that dreams are there to be chased as long as you alive and breathing,” he says.

Gabriel is expected to leave the country on Sunday to start with his projects before the coronation night next Thursday. He started modeling while at the Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN) being crowned Mister PoN in 2013. “Being crowned as Mister PoN opened doors for me and uplifted my modeling career to the next level. It also gave me a platform to be a television presenter of Tutaleni programme on Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC),” he says.

He adds that this is just a beginning of many achievements and great things. He is striving to be a brand ambassador for one of the big brands in the country as well. Mister Africa International has been initiated by the House of Twitch organisation in Botswana. The event is one of the biggest black male fashion competition in the world, and the fastest growing male pageant in the world and as such has the sexiest black men in the world competing for the title annually. The winner of the title will dedicate his time to encouraging young Africans to start up their own business through the Young Entrepreneurs in Africa (YEA) programme. During his reign, he will raise money for at least one new African Start-up business. The Reigning King is Arnaldo Jose of Angola, who has traveled the continent as the Ebola Awareness Ambassador. The founder of the event is Ayotunde ‘Twitch’ Fabamwo.
