Simon Lungameni Fillemon, born and raised in Oshakati, is an electrical millwright from the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology and he is passionate about music. 

Fillemon told VIBEZ! that music has always been part of his life; he loves the art, music touch and healing. He used to write lots of songs from his head since he was nine years old. He also used to listen to Gazza and Qondja a lot. 

Fillemon said he loves doing Kwaito music, and a little bit of Afro-Pop.

Since he was in grade 3, he always wanted to do music because he fell in love with it. 

“I have released two albums – and now, I am currently working on my next project, titled B.O.T.E, which means ‘Beginning of the end’. It’s going to be something huge. I don’t really want to say a lot about the album yet. But this is a knock-out album,” he enthused. 

The 24-year-old Fillemon said he first started off with dancing at 10 years when he was in a group called ‘Kassie Legends’. Later, they transformed and renamed the group ‘AMA YOUNG-KIDZ’.  

He added that they used to perform at a lot of shows back then, getting paid for some and others not. They then started recording music as a group – and shot their first music video in 2014, which used to play on the YO Music countdown on One Africa TV. 

At the time, he was still in high school. 

Fillemon went solo in 2018 when the group got into some crisis.  

“My future plans in the music industry is to make music that will touch lives and educate people. I want my sound to be heard outside Namibia.”  

He stressed that he has always faced many challenges, such as a lack of funds to pay a producer.  

“You need money to deliver quality products; you need money to make good music videos to market your art. Another challenge is to get the people’s attention.” 

To his fellow youth, he had this to say: “If you love something and you are passionate about it, and you really know that are you good at it, you must go hard on it with everything you got, even if it is you against the world. Life is too short to waste. Always believe in yourself, and remain focused on what’s important in life. To my Namibian people, please support local artists,” he added.
