The body of a woman that was found near Windhoek’s Hosianna Parish on Thursday has been identified as of that Charmaine Saron, a political activist and mother of four minor children, from Rehoboth.

The police said the post-mortem indicates the victim was stabbed 24 times, and there have been no arrests made in the barbaric incident.According to the police, Saron was positively identified by her sister as the 28-year-old mother, who, according to her, came to Windhoek three weeks ago for assistant nurse classes.

According to her relatives, she was last seen on Wednesday 8 June 2022 when she left home at about 22h43. The sister told NBC News that the youngest of the minor children is two years old, whereas the oldest is 11. She was active in politics as a Landless People’s Movement activist.

Her funeral arrangements, according to her sister, are at an early stage. The party Saturday posted on its Facebook page: “Our youth and student command element has lost one of its own through a decay of moral standards and values that our society is engulfed in (crime).

“Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the rest of the LPM membership, supporters and sympathisers. ”The body was discovered at about 08h30 in the bushes on the northern side of Hosianah Church.

According to the Khomas Police commander Ismael Basson, the victim walked from a north-western direction into a southeastern direction on the footpath.

“She was allegedly attacked by strangers and stabbed to death. Blood stains of the deceased were followed from near Angermund Transport premises to the place where the deceased was found – behind Hosianah Parish. It’s also alleged that a possible witness to the murder was robbed of his cellphone and cash of N$1 500, and tied with a rope into the tree in the same vicinity. He allegedly highlighted that he saw the deceased walking in front of him and that she was being followed by four men he believed are the ones who attacked the deceased and also robbed him,” reads the police report, issued by Khomas Police spokesperson Silas Shipandeni. A possible eyewitness was robbed and tied to a tree nearby.
