No foul play suspected in two weekend deaths

The Namibian Police are investigating a case of unnatural death after a 77-year-old man died while walking home from a cuca shop. The incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday, at about 23h00, at Okashana kIitembu cuca shops in the Omuthiya area.

According to the weekend crime report circulated by the police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, it is alleged that Petrus Uuligi, a 77-year-old Namibian male, collapsed and died. The police further reported the deceased left cuca shops to go home and while walking, he collapsed and died. No foul play is suspected and the next of kin were informed.

“His lifeless body was discovered by two people who were on their way home from the cuca shops. The health passport of the deceased was not seen, but according to the deceased wife, he was not on any medication. The corpse was transported to Omuthiya police mortuary for autopsy. 

At Onayena On Saturday, around 16h00 at Onanime village, a two-year-old toddler died after she drowned in a waterhole. It is alleged the deceased was playing around the homestead surrounding with other children before she allegedly walked alone to a waterhole situated some metres away from the house to drink water. 

The deceased allegedly fell into the water and drowned. She was discovered by other children who went to look for her after realising that she did not return from the waterhole. The next of kin have been informed. - ljason@nepc.com.na
