Old School Jive gives charity a boost

Whether you are doing it for vulnerable children, the less privileged families or the unemployed youth, there is always a way to show your support.

The Old School Jive is doing it on t-shirts.

Established in 2019, with the aim to honour musical legends in the world, the Old School Jive will donate proceeds from various merchandise to the Welcoming Committee Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, which aims to tackle economic and social issues affecting the youth, children and young women.

Speaking to VIBEZ!, founder of the Old School Jive initiative Selma Sylvanus said the purpose of the t-shirt sale project is to serve and assist less privileged communities.

“We tried by all means to come up with alternative ways of raising funds to be able to assist those who are in need, especially now that we are fighting economic and social issues,” said the young philanthropist.

Part of what makes the Old School Jive different, Sylvanus said, is that they employ in-house artists to create designs with humanitarian themes.

They teamed up with music pioneer and face of Old School Jive Ras Sheehama to help sell the branded merchandise.

“We are planning on collaborating with more legendary musicians by printing t-shirts with their images and awareness messages so they are still remembered and honoured as the main objective of Old School,” she said.

The fundraising t-shirts are sold for N$250 and a certain percentage is dedicated to the Welcoming Committee Foundation, whereas the other percentage is dedicated to the artists.

Sylvanus is expecting further partnership with many artists, locally and internationally.

“We are constantly building our capacity to work with bigger partners,” she told VIBEZ!

The batch of t-shirts is ready and can be pre-ordered on all Old School Jive social media pages or their website.
