Uno Boy back by popular demand

After disappearing from our screens in 2016, local kwaito and Afropop artist Uno Boy says he owes his fans a comeback due to the high demand for his music.
Entertainment Now! caught up with the award-winning musician to find out what he has been up to and what is in the pipeline as far as music is concerned.

Real name Abner Kangumbe, Uno Boy or Uno Man as he prefers to be called, said he took a well-deserved break from music to further his studies in engineering.

“A lot of people think I quit music but I have not.
I was just laying low a bit while chasing my academic dreams,” he said.
Uno Boy said he spent years in Johannesburg (South Africa) studying while also running his cellphone shop in the country.
“While I was away people had always been asking when would I be releasing new music, that is why I just decided to make a comeback and give my fans what they deserve,” Uno Boy said confidently.

Debuting his music career in 2005, Uno Boy entered the music scene with a bang and had an instant following.
The artist is also known to be one of the most disciplined musicians, which earned him an accolade at the NAMAs 2011.
“Discipline plays a vital role in our daily lives because it creates a habit and gets things done,” he said.
The process of releasing music and reaching fans has changed significantly over the years, and the artist could not be happier to take advantage of the new opportunities to finish what he started.

Asked how he would be jumpstarting his music career again, Uno Boy says he believes he has already created a strong fan base so he won’t need to reintroduce himself.

“I have already created a name for myself and I am just going to continue from where I left off.
Getting back into music after a long break is not easy, however, I need to work towards realistic goals and keep up the momentum I built before I left,” he further noted.

What is in the pipeline?
To all Uno Boy’s fans, the wait is over as the artist will be releasing his sixth album soon.
“The 18-track album is already done. In fact, it was supposed to be out last year but the pandemic ruined my plans.
So, I will only release it as soon as the cases drop and the number of crowd gatherings increases,” said Uno Boy, adding that the new album is titled ‘Back by Popular Demand’.
