This is the first time that Namibia is hosting a local brand fashion show and awards with many brands taking part and excited about the initiative. “As the Face of the show, I already started with my job and I recently did a photo shoot with the organisers of the show, wearing their underwear. It was very fun. From the management, to the photographers and up until the make-up artists, the shoot was very professional and worthwhile,” she says.
“We as Team Shako and the organisers of the show are trying so hard to empower the youth of Namibia in whatever possible ways we can by giving them many platforms in the modeling world,” says Edger Matheus, Credit Director of Team Shako. According to the Marketing Manager, Naftal Nghishekwa, they are still looking for model’s to work with. Leena’s modeling journey started in 2009 by taking part in small school pageants. “Starting off in the modeling industry was quite hard as one had to make so many sacrifices and make a lot of acquaintances. I had to come to terms with the fact that not everyone will accept you and not everyone will use you. It was hard but it got better by the audition,’ she retraces her journey.

She is the reigning Miss Afrocat and says she has a soft spot for beauty pageants. “My passion is in fashion shows now and thus I have done quite a number of them,” she says. She has cat walked in many fashion shows such as Cota, Rbs/Zarra line, IB696, Melissa Poulton, Kim Coutre, just to mention a few.
