DJ Lischen bags another radio gig

It’s not often that a DJ gets to do two gigs daily at two different radio stations in two vernaculars.

DJ Lisch, real name Lischen Khachas, does it flawlessly – presenting the Big Breakfast on Touch FM from 6h00 to 9h00, and between 15h00 and 17h00 on Kaisames FM’s #khamkhoen//oab show.

Although some may say Touch and Kaisames belong to the same company, NBC, the fact remains they are two different stations with different listenership and topics, broadcasted in English and Khoekhoegowab, respectively.

On her new gig, she said: “To be honest, I grew up listening to Khaisames because of my gramps. I have always had a love for my culture and language but I never thought I was capable of broadcasting in a vernacular like I am doing it now. It’s nerve-wracking but I enjoy every moment so far”.

DJ Lisch told VIBEZ! she is a progressive young person, always looking for and ready for the next challenge.

While this is the first time DJ Lisch is surfing two different airwaves at the “same” time since entering the radio industry with Energy 100 in 2011, it is not the first time she balances two jobs.

She explained the two slots are at different times of the day, and she can handle them because she is “quite flexible”.

“NBC is just the right place to do so; one can do many things within the company. We have people who work on TV also working on radio, etc. So, yes, it’s one of the ways to diversify one’s portfolio”.

DJ Lisch, who is also one of few female music producers in the country, was the resident DJ for one of the popular nightspots in the capital, which she credits for the valuable experience gained in that area.

“I did it for 11 months. It was really good I got to meet a lot of people as well as international celebrities like Cassper Nyovest, Musa Keys and DBN Gogo – to name a few. I really appreciate that whole experience, though I wouldn’t like to be a resident again. I will only be available for gigs and events.”

“To everyone who speaks and understands Khoekhoegowab, tune into Kaisames every weekday from 3-5 pm for a fresh outlook on youth matters and entertainment
on my show, called #khamkhoen//oab,” she urged.
