A police investigation has been launched in a case of rape and possible incest after a father allegedly raped his 18-year-old biological daughter under coercive circumstances between February and April this year. The incident occurred at a village in the Omusati region.
Omusati police chief Titus Shikongo said the victim told police that she has been sexually abused on various occasions by her father. Police suspect the victim might have consented to have a sexual relationship with the father, but he (suspect) failed to deliver on his promises.
This could be the reason why the victim opened the case, according to the police. Shikongo added that the victim has since been relocated to another relative’s house while investigations are underway. The suspect has not been arrested yet because there is not sufficient evidence to substantiate a charge.
Meanwhile, police in Omusati are also investigating a case of a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by a neighbour at a local village last week. It is alleged that the suspect found the girl in a room, and proceeded to rape her. The suspect is known, but has not been arrested yet.
