Exciting boxing was on display during the Kilimanjaro boxing bonanza at the Ongwediva multi-purpose centre on Saturday.
The event, which ran under the theme ‘MTC Kilimanjaro northern championship’ Part One, saw 17 amateur bouts.
Speaking to New Era Sport after the bonanza, chairman and owner of Kilimanjaro Boxing Club (KBC) Joseph Benhard said the event was a success and brought unity amongst local boxing stables in the northern regions.
“The boxers showed up and brought fireworks into the ring which was exciting to watch. Close to 10 boxing stables in the north took part and it shows how young boxers are hungry to fight. Plus, this was overwhelming to see, because it shows unity amongst stables.”
Benhard stated that with more bonanzas of this kind being staged often, they are going to discover and produce more exciting boxers.
He said part two of this event will take place in July.
