I always wanted to make my own brand -Frezzy

Medusalem Hamalwa has finally reached his goal of owning a clothing brand.

The 28-year-old started Gmaster, which is short for Good Master in 2012, inspired by his motto that one shouldn’t just expect to be given or receive, but should also give to the world.

Also known as Frezzy, Hamalwa told Youth Corner he was inspired by local kwaito musician King TeeDee with his Mshasho clothing brand.

Gmaster finally took off in 2018, and has been in demand ever since. At one point, he produced 1 890 pieces of merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, and hooded sweatshirts, commonly known as hoodies.

“It’s a good feeling to know that people like my brand. I am always getting compliments from many people telling me how my brand is unique. Plus, it’s cheap with high quality, and this gives me courage to put more effort into my brand,” he said proudly.

Apart from owning a brand, Hamalwa also does kwaito music and will release an album soon.

“I am always committed to giving excellent service to my customers, because I believe this will help my brand and business grow faster and last longer,” he said.

Hamalwa urged Namibians to support local brands and work together, adding: “Don’t quit on what you have started until you find what you want. Always focus on the good things, and stay away from negative minded people”.

You can get a Gmaster-branded t-shirt for N$180, hoody for N$350 and caps for N$100.

Hamalwa can be reached on Facebook as Gmaster Freddy Hamalwa or Instagram at Gmaster_freddy Hamalwa.
