Police at Katima Mulilo are investigating two cases of rape, including a 24-year-old man, who was allegedly raped by an unknown suspect. 

According to the police’s weekend serious crime report, an unknown man forcefully had anal sex with the young man at Butterfly location in Katima Mulilo. 

The traumatising incident occurred around midnight. The suspect is still unknown and at large. In another matter, a 37-year-old Zimbabwean man was arrested for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman at Lyambai in Katima Mulilo. 

The incident reportedly occurred at 02h00 on Friday morning. 

The man is due to appear in court this week. In Ohangwena region, a 23-year-old Angolan man was arrested for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl. 

It is alleged the suspect entered the victim’s room and raped her. The incident occurred on Friday evening at Oshikunde village. 

Another rape case was also reported at Hoachanas in the Hardap region after a 21-year-old man reportedly raped a 14-year-old girl on Friday evening. 

The suspect has been arrested and was due to appear in court yesterday. Meanwhile, a murder case was opened at Grootfontein after the body of a 31-year-old Angolan national was found opposite the Engen filling station. 

“The deceased was stabbed with an unknown object by a male suspect on the left side of his chest. The suspect is not yet arrested and investigations will continue,” the police said. In the same area, the same day, at farm Otjirukaku on the B8 road, a 23-year-old male was shot and wounded allegedly by a farmer while attempting to poach wildlife on the property. 

The victim’s friend managed to flee the scene unharmed. The victim is currently hospitalised in a local hospital and his condition is stable, according to the authorities. 

No arrest has been made yet and police investigations continue.
