A 29-year-old man killed his girlfriend and hanged her body before committing suicide by hanging.

The alleged murder took place at Onanke village near Omuthiya in the Oshikoto region on Saturday evening.

“It is alleged that the suspect (boyfriend), Bernhard Onyevene travelled from Otjiwarongo on the same day to Onanke and upon arrival, assaulted and killed his girlfriend, Taimi Fellemon (37) with a hoe handle. 

He, thereafter, hanged her with a red rope around the neck in the hut, police said. It is further alleged that he also hanged himself to death in the same hut. 

A 28-year-old man was on Sunday stabbed to death at Okahandja Park in Windhoek. It is alleged that Immanuel Kambinda’s body was found in an open area where he died.

Police suspect that there was a fight on Saturday between the deceased and suspect, who is known, at a bar. 

“The suspect stabbed the deceased to death with an unknown object,’’ police said.

Another murder case was opened at Mariental on Saturday, where a man was also stabbed to death in front of Independence Bar in Donga location. 

It is alleged that two arrested suspects, between the ages of 36-39, stabbed the deceased with knives in the back and chest, and the deceased fell on the ground.

 It was further alleged that before he died, the deceased stabbed one suspect and tried to run away but fell shortly and died instantly. 

“A fight between one suspect and the deceased allegedly erupted which resulted in the stabbing. The deceased sustained several stab wounds on his upper body, both suspects ran from the crime scene but were later arrested and are in police custody,” police said. 

At Omaruru in the Erongo region, a case of attempted murder, read with the Domestic Violence Act, was opened against a woman on Saturday, she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend.

According to the police report, the arrested suspect, a 23-year-old woman, stabbed her 25-year-old boyfriend with a knife twice, in the face and in the left side of the chest. 

It is alleged that both suspect and victim, who are in a romantic relationship, have been drinking together from Friday evening until around 10h00 on Saturday.

An argument erupted later at one of the drinking places. 

It is further alleged that the victim left, went to sleep at the suspect’s room and when the suspect came home at around 11h00, another argument between them broke out and the suspect pushed/forced the victim out of her room.

 The boyfriend resisted and as a result, the suspect took a knife and stabbed him. The victim was admitted at Omaruru State hospital in a critical condition.

A pensioner allegedly committed suicide on Friday at Onegandjo village in the Ontananga area of Oshikoto region.

The incident was reported to have taken place at around 07h00, the deceased was identified as Johannes Stefanus (87). He hanged himself in his sleeping room.

Another suicide was reported on Saturday at Uukwiyu Uushona. It is alleged that the deceased, Vitrif Kawe (31) hanged himself with a rope up a tree branch in the house.

On Saturday at Ohadiwa village in Ongenga constituency of Ohangwena region, Evelina Shiingidwa (57) died after she also allegedly hanged herself with a rope around her neck from a roof of a room in her homestead. 

Rehoboth also recorded a suicide incident on Sunday, at Block E, where Keannon Macmillo Claasen (22) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his room. 

No foul play was suspected and the next of kin for all deceased persons were informed.
