Thankful… Namport has through its social investment fund assisted the Namibian police by refurbishing the Walvis Bay K-9 dog kennels at the port of Walvis Bay police station. The refurbishments cost the company N$280 000. Acting commercial services executive Elias Mwenyo said the K-9 unit dogs have been playing an integral part in the port’s operations. “They are also extremely useful in detecting illegal substances such as explosives and even drugs that might enter the port via cargo received,” he said. The dog kennels were constructed 10 years ago, and had reached their lifespan due to the weather conditions at the harbour town. “Hence, we saw a need to refurbish the kennels at the port’s police station,” he said.
