Salute boxing bonanza today

Local boxing fans will today be treated to exciting fights when some of the country’s top boxing prospects take to the ring during the MTC Salute Boxing Academy event at Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek.

Salute Boxing Academy chairman and trainer Kiriat Kamanya said the boxers are ready. “All logistics are in place; boxers are ready and eager to take to the ring and exchange leather,” he told New Era Sport yesterday.

The bonanza will see 13 bouts, with experienced and up-and-coming boxers in action.  The flyweight national title fight over 10 rounds between Immanuel Joseph and Fillemon Nghutenanye will be the main attraction of the night.

The main supporting bout will be between Phillip Shaanika and John Shitilifa in a super bantamweight four-rounder. In the eight-round super bantamweight category, Lazarus Namalombo will square up against Matheus Kandara, while Matias Hamunyela will battle it out against Festus Simon in a flyweight four-rounder. Alfeus Shilongo will go toe-to-toe with Joseph Hihangwa in a super middleweight division.

In the welterweight division, Sackaria Amutjaa will take to the ring against Rafael Iita in a four-rounder, while Tobias Iipinge will take on Steven Shilomboleni in a super bantamweight division over four rounds.

In the super lightweight division, Vilho Vilho will challenge Erastus Filemon, while Gabriel Jamba will battle it out against Petrus Salom in a bantamweight contest over four rounds.
