A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a toilet at an Omuthiya clinic last week Wednesday during lunch hour in what seemed to have been an arranged meet-up.
The suspect and the victim are in-laws, according to Oshikoto investigations officer Paulus Endjala, who said text messages were discovered in the victim’s phone, which led to her confessing later to relatives.
“It is alleged that the suspect arranged to meet with the victim at Omuthiya town near the clinic. Thereafter, the suspect and the victim went inside the toilet, which is situated on the clinic’s premises. The suspect then had sexual intercourse with the minor girl under coercive circumstances,” stated Endjala.
The suspect is known, and the police is working towards apprehending him.
The news broke after the complainant, who is the victim’s aunt, found text message exchanges between the two. She confronted the girl, who then provided details on what transpired.
“The girl has been taken to hospital for medical attention. The suspect and victim do not stay in the same house, although they are in-laws,” explained the police. Another rape case was reported at Onethindi on Friday involving juveniles.
“It is alleged that the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, went to the victim’s house, who is a neighbour, and found the girl aged 15 in the sitting room. The suspect then grabbed and covered the victim’s mouth before pushing her down on the sofa. He allegedly proceeded to undress and have sexual intercourse with her,” stated a police investigator.
According to a medical report, there is evidence that there was penetration. The suspect has been arrested.
