Top trending - Top Cheri hangs up mic

It is a sad week for Top Cheri’s fans, as the singer is seemingly retiring. Although the singer’s career might just have started, the award-winning artist has shared with fans that she is closing the current chapter of her life.

“Yesterday was the very last time I would enter a studio. ‘Thithe’ was my last album. I am officially done with my music journey. I am honestly all my mother has, and that matters the most to me,” she announced.

Top Cheri thanked her fans in a Facebook post on Monday in an apparent farewell to her music career.

“Thank you to every person who jammed to my music – every person who took the time to support and show me crazy love. My first album got me two awards – album of the year and best newcomer. My second album got me 1 million views,” she said. The ‘Victoria’ hitmaker further showed a sense of gratitude to her fans, saying: “I am glad I walked the journey; the experience was beautiful when it was. I will always be grateful to everybody who helped me on the journey – producers, my dancers and mostly the fans who fell in love with my music; it was beautiful and I will cherish every moment,” she explained.

While it is not confirmed what the singer intends to do after wrapping up her budding career, many of her fans are barraging her with comments, asking: why the unprecedented decision?

It is unclear whether she is serious about her retirement from music.

Other popular musicians like King Tee Dee, Young T, Berthold and Nga-I have made sudden claims about not making music, only to return a few months later.

Attempts to obtain a comment from Top Cheri were unsuccessful.
