Tura Magic Ladies and Galz & Goalz on Saturday weekend both edged closer to booking their places in the final of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women Super Cup after securing first-leg victories.

The competition, which started last year December, will see the final taking place on the 27th of this month. This weekend action took at the NFA Technical Center in Katutura and saw four teams battling it out in the first legs of the Women Super Cup semi-finals.

In the first semi-final clash of the day, Tura Magic delivered a stellar performance to secure a well-deserved 3-0 win over V-Power Angels FC to take charge of proceedings ahead of their semi-final second leg match, which takes place this coming Saturday at the same venue. A brace from Magic’s captain Anna Shikusho and an effort by Thomalina Adams made sure the Magicians cruised smoothly.

Thanks to a solitary goal from striker Beverley Beva, Galz & Goalz also managed to march closer to the final with a narrow 1-0 victory over Khomas Nampol during the second semi-final encounter of the day. Galz & Goalz and Khomas Nampol will again meet this coming Saturday for their second leg semi-final clash.

Speaking to New Era Sport after the match, Tura Magic Ladies head coach Shama Gure said the game was a bit tough but they managed to get the needed result. He, however, said heading into the second leg this coming weekend, they plan on building on their strength and also work on their weakness.

“The match was quite tough but it is what we expected; like I said, in my previous interview, we weren’t going to take this game lightly and that’s what we did. We came out strong and the team was determined to get the result and close the gap – and that’s just what we did. Heading into the second leg, it will have to be the same approach; we won’t take the game lightly, despite having the upper hand in this fixture. We want to build on our strength and also work on our weakness, and try to minimise errors because our opponent knows us very well and we know them. It will only be good if we avoid those unnecessary mistakes,” Gure said.
