A 53-year-old woman was granted bail of N$1 000 in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly hacking a 14-year-old girl.

According to the police, the incident happened around 14h00 on Monday at Ompembelonga village, Omuntele constituency in the Oshikoto region.

The incident happened after Johanna Uusiku apparently accused the victim of stealing N$700 from her room when she came to visit her.

 The suspect tied the victim’s arms with a rope, and hacked her on both legs and feet with a panga.

The victim sustained serious injuries, which caused a housemate to alert the police.

The victim is the accused’s niece but they do not stay in the same house. However, she came to visit her aunt for the long weekend.

The money was not recovered and police investigations
continue.
