Malawian boxer Simeon Tcheta, who is set to challenge Namibia’s Lukas ‘The Demolisher’ Ndafoluma for the vacant WBO Africa middleweight title this weekend, yesterday declared his intentions to dismantle Ndafoluma and take the title home.
The visiting Tcheta, who will square off for the vacant WBO Africa middleweight title against Ndafoluma on Saturday in the main fight of the ‘The Demolishers Time’ Boxing Bonanza, yesterday came face-to-face with his Namibian opponent during a face-off press conference in the capital and promised nothing but fireworks come Saturday.
‘The ‘Demolishers Time’ Boxing Bonanza is being staged by the MTC Salute Boxing Academy at Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.
“I don’t have much time to waste, I will do much of my talking inside the ring on Saturday. But as for my overall preparedness for the fight, I’m ready for my opponent and ready to be crowned the new champion on Saturday. I will take the title home,” the confident Malawian said yesterday.
Responding to Tcheta’s verbal jabs, a calm and collected Ndafoluma said he is not shaken by the Malawian’s tough talk and promised that he will thoroughly deal with Tcheta on Saturday.
“It’s my time and I am grateful to have this opportunity to fight for this title. I am ready and excited for this bout. As for my opponent, I don’t think he stands a chance against me, I have been around for a while now and I know how to handle my business and how to deal with people like him [Tcheta],” said ‘The Demolisher’.
Also in action, Saturday will be Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Mwadziwana, who will challenge local Nathanael ‘Natty’ Kakololo for the African Boxing Union (ABU) featherweight title. At yesterday’s presser, the Zimbabwean warned Kakololo that he is here to wrestle the title away from the Namibian.
“I am not a new guy, I have been around for a minute now and I am a very dangerous boxer. I’m ready and as I said, I’m here to collect the belt and go back home,” said Mwadziwana as he oozed confidence.
In response, Kakololo said: “Champions don’t prepare, champions stay ready. So sorry to my opponent your dreams won’t come true and this is still payback time after what you have done in the past here in Namibia.”
Among the undercards to be in action come fight night will be Shifiona Thomas, who will take on Welhem Shili over four rounds in the super bantamweight division, and Mateus Nathaniel will take to the ring to confront Joseph Abel also in the super bantamweight division over four rounds.
Also in the super bantamweight division, Phillipus Shaanika will face Johannes Morsande, while Frans Naanda takes on Lazarus Namalambo also in the super bantamweight division. Benhard Benhard will square off against Ndangi Shapwa over four rounds in the welterweight division.
Immanuel Joseph will be in action against Salatiel Moses in the super flyweight division over six rounds and Alfeus Shilongo will confront Charles Misanjo in a super middleweight six-rounder.
In the super lightweight division, Nestor Amukotoh will be in action against Andreas Nghinaunye over four rounds and Jonas Erastus will complete the undercards line-up with a bout against Thomas Gabriel.
According to the organisers, the event will be staged behind closed doors with a limited number of attendees but will be broadcast live on NBC TV and live-streamed on all social media platforms.
