Over 200 plots to be availed at Aus
"Windhoek More than 200 plots will be availed to the Aus community as part of the development agenda at the settlement, the Councillor of the Nami#nus constituency Jan Scholtz has said. In a telephonic interview with New Era he explained that the plan to avail plots to the people of Aus is part of the development agenda for the current and the next financial year. At the same time mechanisms are being put in place to ensure that people are registered, so that when they are allocated the plots it would be in their names, Scholtz explained. ""We want to make sure that people get plots, but they must be registered as the owners,"" Scholtz said. This, he further explained, would ensure that vulnerable people do not lose their land and homes in future. Furthermore, the councillor said plans to ascertain whether 26 elderly people at the settlement are the legitimate owners of houses built during the colonial era are at an advanced stage. The elderly have been living in the houses for many years since Independence, but there is no paperwork indicating that they are the legitimate owners of the houses, Scholtz said. ""If they die the families and children will have a problem claiming ownership of the houses,"" he explained."
