Leading international tennis juniors to head for Windhoek
Windhoek Holding close the value of sports development, Bank Windhoek has sponsored the Namibian Tennis Association (NTA) to host the Bank Windhoek South Central Under-18 Circuit and the Under-18 tourneys in April and May, in Windhoek. The handing over ceremony was conducted last week at the Central Tennis Club in Windhoek. Leading players from various countries are expected to compete on the Bank Windhoek South Central Under-18 Circuit in an attempt to improve their rankings. Apart from hosts Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, England, America, Portugal and Australia are all expected to enter teams in the august gathering. The Under-18 Circuit tourney will be held from April 29 to May 7, while the NTA Under-18 tourneys start on May 8 and conclude on May 14. Matches are slated for the Central Tennis Club and SKW courts, with all quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals to be staged at the Central Tennis Club in Olympia. Several notable local players such as Dantago Gawanab, Archie Norval, Tevin Tait, Yed Malan, Jessica Riedel and Paul Scwiegers will participate in the play-offs. These events contribute to junior world ranking points for the U-18 boys and girls who average 64 boys and 48 girls competing. Meanwhile, NTA thanked Bank Windhoek for its considerable sponsorship.
