AIDS Music Tour in South
By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK The Living Positive Tour which encourages youths to live healthy lives - sponsored by the American Embassy - last week visited schools in southern towns. The Living Positive Tour features the five-man a capella group, Vocal Motion 6, and Herlyn Uiras, an HIV+ woman, who use their vocal talents, dramatic skills and personal experiences to convey HIV/AIDS prevention, stigma reduction, and living positive messages. The programme is supported by a PEPFAR (President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) grant from the US Embassy. Since July 2007, the Living Positive Tour has performed in front of enthusiastic audiences of almost 18 000 youth and adults at schools, churches, colleges, sports clubs, multi-purpose centres, prisons, as well as along the beach front and at Miss Palm Beach during the festive season. The tour brought its HIV/AIDS messages last week to high schools in Karasburg, Keetmanshoop, Mariental and Rehoboth. Further information about the tour may be obtained by contacting public affairs officer, Raymond Castillo, at 0811280816, or information assistant, Roger Lyners, at 061-229-801 [ext. 2206].
