All female flight from Fastjet marks International Women’s Day

Fastjet Zimbabwe conducted an all-female flight to and from Harare to Johannesburg in celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March. Both flights FN8222 and FN8334 were under the command of Captain Chipo Matimba, who led the all-female crew that comprised First Officer Chipo Gatsi and Senior Cabin Crew Tichafara Sibanda.

The International Women’s Day themed #ChooseToChallenge runs concurrently with the beginning of the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, in which the aviation industry commemorates the first woman in the world to obtain a pilot’s licence. As a sign of goodwill and respect to all the women onboard the all-female operated flight, Fastjet awarded all female passengers on the selected flights the lowest fare offer on their next Fastjet booking across the destination network.

A Fastjet spokesperson shared, “We take pride in being an organisation that advocates gender equality in the workplace. Today’s flight is a demonstration of our commitment to celebrating women within the aviation industry and highlighting the critical role they play equal to their male counterparts.”

“This week we are also celebrating the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week and we have started the celebrations by performing an all-female flight and will profile and showcase exceptional women within the airline as they share their story and inspire the next generation to soar high,” the spokesperson added.
