Alleged wife killer denied bail
Ongwediva A 47-year-old man who stabbed his wife to death appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday but was denied bail. Andreas Mbwale from Otjaandjamwenyo village in Ruacana Constituency is accused of stabbing his wife Petrina Wokaulu several times with a knife. The incident happened on Monday morning at the village in Omusati Region. The case was postponed to February 7 next year for further police investigations and for the accused to obtain legal aid. Omusati regional police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lineekela Shikongo confirmed the case to New Era, saying the victim and suspect lived in the same house as husband and wife. The stabbing reportedly occurred following a fight between the suspect and the deceased in their homestead. “The corpse was transported to the Okahao police morgue where the post-mortem will be conducted,” said Shikongo. Shikongo said Mbwale was arrested on Monday evening at a house near the village where he had sought accommodation and water. He said the suspect fled the scene after committing the crime, but was later arrested in the evening of the same day because the police worked hard to make sure he was put behind bars. The deceased was from Otjihambyi, Angola. The next of kin were informed.
