Amped summer festival attracts thousands
Windhoek On Saturday the first ever Amped Summer Music Festival held at the Trusco United sports grounds attracted thousands of people. From the bar and food stalls to the lights, a perfectly-crafted line-up, three stages and smoke shooting out from the show areas the venue saw a hyped-up crowd having all their preferences masterfully catered for. The festival was exceptionally well-run in terms of logistics, which resulted in a really good vibe on the evening. Getting in through the bag check and the front gate was speedy and getting between stages was easy as festival-goers took advantage of the plentiful dancing space. The electric event featured renowned DJ duo Pascal and Pearce, Lady Lea, PH Fat, Das Kapital, Haezer, Jack Parow and Bittereinder. Our very own local star DJs Chello, Kr4nky, Droopy and Sergio were also on the DJ list among the South African and Zimbabwean guest artistes. As promised by the organisers the main stage was situated on the rugby field facing east toward the airport with open dancing space. The main stage area included a full bar as well as a chill area where you could rest your weary feet after an epic dance session. A medical bay and toilet facility were located near the main stage. From there you could walk over to the adjacent field where you found the electronic and bassline stages surrounding a large chill area and viewing deck. Although lined-up acts drove early sell-outs, the range was also wide in terms of both dynamics and genre. And like any festival worth its salt it definitely left many exhausted and satisfied. I’m sure music lovers who were present would agree that the event was festive. Amped was hosted by Mammoth Events, the host of the Big Fat Pool Party, Colour Goes to Coast and Colour Crazy.
