Angolan man gets 16 years for murder

An Angolan-born man, who was residing at Onkaanka in the Omusati region and was recently convicted of murder, has been sentenced to an effective 16 years imprisonment. The 30-year-old Vitaleni Johannes was sentenced in the Outapi Regional Court this week. He was initially charged with murder after a violent domestic incident that took place at Opoto location of Onkaanka in which a 28-year-old woman Penehafo Zacharia died from stab wounds. The incident happened on 13 July last year. Johannes used a knife to stab the victim on the left lower abdomen, left arm and on the left chest, which resulted in serious injuries. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. Both Johannes and Zacharia were employed as domestic workers at Onkaanka.
