2015-09-18Staff Report 2 Lüderitz Angra Pequena Senior Secondary School in Luderitz recently awarded its best learners with certificates of merit. A Grade 12 learner at the school, Gabriel Hipangelwa, was awarded the certificate for being the best student of 2015, during the diploma ceremony award held at the German Hostel in Lüderitz. Latifah Makaula came in at second position. Among the Grade 11 learners the top four performers were Elizabeth Malakia in first position, Saima Ndengu in second and Fiel Nghikofa in third position, with Simon Hitamuka as fourth best student. Shyral Beukes, the principal of Angra Pequena applauded the sponsors, who donated the prize money and floating trophies. Regional Director of Education, Arts and Culture in the //Kharas Region Awebahe Johannes //Hoeseb said it is a good idea to acknowledge the hard work of all those learners who were awarded prizes. He also applauded the learners as well as their teachers that have contributed to the success of the recipients of awards. //Hoeseb said such awards ceremonies present a perfect opportunity to give credit to those who excelled . “The prize winners are a true representation of everything we stand for here at Angra Pequena SSS and I am convinced that these hardworking learners are great examples of what we expect from our learners. Indeed they are a credit to this school and an inspiration to all,” //Hoeseb said. He continued by stating that, the awards ceremony was a fantastic opportunity to formally celebrate the abundance of talent that exists within Angra Pequena SSS, in a diverse range of areas. “If you are not a recipient of a prize or award this year, the first thing that needs to be done, is to categorically include the resolve of doing whatever you are supposed to do with passion, as part of your daily routine, and attend to whatever you are supposed to do with the utmost commitment”, he emphasised. The other sponsors were, Namdeb and Nautilus Fishing that each donated N$10 000 each while the Lüderitz Town Council donated N$7000, Rosh Pinah Zink donatefloating trophies to the value of N$3495, plus an additional N$1800, Marco Fishing donate N$3800, Namport donated N$2500, Southern Hake Namibia and Bricks and Blocks each donated N$2000, First National Bank gave N$1500, the Regional Council and Seaflower Group each donated N$1000 Deloitte donated N$500 while Namib Office Machines donated a watch set that was given to Shanyengange. At the same occasion the Mayor of Lüderitz, Suzan Ndjaleka, said in life one needs to be rewarded for hard work done well. She encouraged learners to take their studies seriously, to give 100 percent dedication to their schoolwork and to invest their time wisely. She further emphasised that once the learners have passed their matric and furthered their studies at different institutions, they should come back to their town and develop it. “We have a lack of skilled expertise, such as engineers and social workers, just to mention a few. After completion of your studies, come back to your town and make your contribution. It can make a difference in Lüderitz”, Ndjaleka said and encouraged the learners not to lose focus on their journey through life. 2015-09-18Staff Report 2
