Angula sidelined by serious injury
Windhoek Brave Warriors and South African club Free State Stars versatile defender Dacosta Angula stands a 99.9% chance of missing Namibia’s 2018 FIFA World Cup preliminary round tie against Gambia, slated for next month. Namibia plays Gambia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on October 9, which will be the first leg, and four days later (October 13) the return leg will be played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek. Angula last week Monday fractured his left foot during a training session with his club, which saw him spend the following day in hospital undergoing an operation. The former Black Africa defender confirmed the seriousness of the injury, adding that doctors said the injury could sideline him for up to three months. “I will again see the doctors on 22 September, that’s when they will remove the stitches and hopefully reevaluate the seriousness of my injury. I hope it’s not that serious because I just returned to first team action for both the Brave Warriors and here at my club, so I really want to continue in that form,” said Angula. This season Angula has featured only once for his club, on August 26 before joining the national team camp for the Afcon qualifier against Senegal, which they lost 2-0 at home. The defender has not seen much action this year for the national team, being left out for the Cosafa Cup triumph in South Africa in May as well the 2017 Afcon qualifier match at Niger.
