WINDHOEK-  Two quite different ladies who share a similar first name – Anna – are scheduled to perform in the Jazz Etcetera series, the Thursdays live jazz music sessions  at the Hilton’s Hotel Kalabar in the second half of this month. First on next Thursday, is Anna Shalihu, stage name Kandaha, a young woman of 19 years. One would call her an all-round artist in the making. Her first encounter with music was at her church and that is when she and the people around her recognised a talent. But she is also making waves as a visual artist and she has other artistic hobbies – like gymnastics, dancing and fashion on the side. Her ‘sound’ is jazzy; she loves Gospel music, acoustic pop, R&B and Hip Hop. She will be supported by a three piece combo with Wayn Mhlanga on bass, Wilfried Kisting on keyboards and Inna Goroh on drums. A week later on May 30 Annastasia will be featuring. She is similarly a young musical artist and vocalist – better known as Ann Singer. Ann Singer studies radiography at the University of Namibia (Unam)  Medical School. She is in the process of producing her first CD – after a very successful recent launch of her single, Mbwiti Dance, which is currently at No 5 on the local Base FM hit parade. She will be accompanied by Adam on keyboard and Afron on bass. The Jazz Etcetera concert range at the Hilton Kalabar is going from strength to strength. Big names of the Namibian music have passed there over the past two years, as well as upcoming new talent. The show takes place on Thursday evenings from 19h-21h30, is open to the public with no entrance fees charged.
