Annerie’s road to Miss World

  Terence Mukasa

Annerie Maré travelled to Swakopmund recently for meetings in preparation of her participation in the Miss World beauty pageant set for San Juan, Puerto Rico next month.

The 2021 Miss Namibia World contestant met up with her fashion designer Belinda Revile from Loveknot designs in Swakopmund, and fitted on one of her nine dresses for the upcoming Miss World competition.

Maré ended as  first runner-up in the 2021 Miss Namibia competition in June this year. Chelsi Shikongo, who won the prestigious crown, will represent the country at the Miss Universe contest in Israel, also set for December this year.

The 26-year-old told VIBEZ! she also did a talent video of her dancing that needed to be submitted to Miss World organisers. Karl Andre Terblanch Photography shot the music video.

“Andrea Zumba also invited me for a class that I enjoyed so much. It definitely prepared me for Puerto Rico dancing,” said Maré, who is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in counselling.

She was also involved in handing over donated sanitary pads from Spar to the young girls of Swakopmund Primary School.

Maré said talking to the girls about having purpose and drive in their lives was a beautiful experience for her.

She is also actively involved in tourism, agriculture and entrepreneurship and during her stay in Swakopmund, attended the Night Market, where everyone comes together to have fun and spend time with one another as a community, while supporting local products.

“All the stalls were properly put together. I took photos with so many lovely people, and asked the Namibian people to download the Miss World App called Mobstar, in order to start voting for me by liking my photos,” added Maré.
