Baby dumped in Eenhana

Police in Ohangwena are frantically trying to establish the whereabouts of a woman, who allegedly dumped her newborn baby in Eenhana.

The newborn was found behind the Oukwanyama traditional authority offices in Eenhana town on Tuesday. 

According to Inspector Kaume Itumba, no one was arrested in connection with the incident, and the police do not currently have a suspect.

Itumba has, thus, urged any member of the community who knows of a possible suspect to immediately notify the police. 

In another incident, on Tuesday at around 19h00 at Oshikondeilwa  village, Omuthiya area, a 39-year-old man was struck by lightning.

According to Oshikoto Police Commissioner Armas Shivute, it is alleged that the victim was struck by lightning while he was walking in their homestead. 

He was declared dead by the doctor at the hospital.

The victim is identified as Petrus Titus. 

No foul play was suspected. 

The next of kin are informed.

The body was transported to the Omuthiya police mortuary for autopsy.
